St. Gianna Beretta Molla was a wife, mother and doctor. Ā She lived out all three of her vocations with faith and grace. Ā When she becameĀ pregnant with her fourth and final child, a tumor was found on her uterusĀ during the second month of pregnancy. Ā Unwilling to sacrifice the baby to saveĀ her own life, St. Gianna instead opted for the riskier option of surgically removing only the tumor. Ā The operation was successful, and the baby was delivered months later by c-section at full term. Ā There were complications, however, and St. Gianna died a week after giving birth.
